How Neofoods Builds Matcha Quality from the Ground Up

Quality matcha starts long before the powder reaches the whisk—it begins with the land, the plant, and the systems that protect every leaf from field to final package.

For food brands and formulators, consistent matcha quality is not just about color and taste. It is about traceability, safety, and a supply chain that can be trusted. At Neofoods, food safety is built into every stage of the matcha journey.

Rooted in Origin, Backed by Own Plantations

Our matcha comes from Jingshan, Hangzhou, Zhejiang Province—the true birthplace of powdered tea culture. This is where the foundations of authentic matcha were developed during the Tang and Song dynasties through steam fixation, stone milling, and traditional whisking techniques. Historical Japanese records, including Ruiju Myōgikō, confirm that the tea ceremony originated from Jingshan in the Song Dynasty, with Japanese monks later bringing tea seeds, processing methods, and rituals back to Japan.

Today, Neofoods remains rooted in this core production area. We operate our own tea plantations, allowing us to control raw material quality from the very beginning. Through careful raw material selection and strict supplier management, we ensure that only the best leaves enter our production process.

A Robust Food Safety System

At Neofoods, food safety is supported by internationally recognized certifications and standardized practices. Our matcha production facilities hold ISO 9001ISO 22000, and FSSC 22000 certifications—internationally recognized standards that validate our commitment to quality management and food safety at every stage of production.

Beyond certifications, we maintain a full traceability system that tracks every batch of matcha from plantation to finished product. This transparency allows our customers to verify the origin, processing, and safety of the matcha they purchase.

Global Sourcing, Local Expertise

While our roots are in Jingshan, our perspective is global. Neofoods practices global sourcing combined with strict supplier screening to ensure that all raw materials meet our high standards for quality and safety. This dual approach—grounded in local expertise and informed by international best practices—enables us to deliver matcha that is both authentic and export-ready.

Technology That Preserves Quality

Our matcha is processed using patented low-temperature grinding (<20°C) to protect the natural aroma, vibrant green color, and nutrients that define premium matcha. With fineness up to 2000 mesh—well above the conventional 800 mesh—our matcha delivers a smoother mouthfeel and brighter brew, making it suitable for a wide range of applications: beverages, bakery, confectionery, and instant drinks.

Available in premium, universal, and flavored grades, Neofoods matcha is designed to meet the diverse needs of global food, beverage, bakery, and wellness brands.
